José is an influential blogger whose thinking can be followed on consultaglobal, where he addresses the subjects of innovation management and emerging communication technologies. His articles, posts and online presentations have already registered in excess of 500,000 views.

José's visionary and thought provoking talks are proven to stimulate exciting discussions on what's next in the telecommunications industry. He was recently invited by Frost & Sullivan to speak about "Sensing the Future" at "Global Innovations in New Product Development 2010" before an audience formed by executives from a wide variety of multinational corporations. José is a regular contributor to Sintetia, an online publication catering to Spanish speaking economists, and TBB, The Bloggers Bulletin, which focuses on the impact of social media.

Jose's work at Alcatel-Lucent focuses on emerging and disruptive technologies. He leads the IID Team, which stands for Ideation, Incubation and Demonstrations, in the Solutions & Technology Introduction Department. The scope of work encompasses mobile broadband, media delivery networks and application enablement. He is currently conducting research on QoE metrics, the user's quality of experience, and spearheaded E&D, an annual workshop on Emerging & Disruptive trends.

José joined Lucent Technologies a decade ago as part of the company's international strategy team focusing on serving global network operators. Since, he has been successfully involved in forward looking projects with Bell Labs researchers, launched new products in the intelligent networks market and has played an instrumental role in creating and managing sophisticated software development and services partnerships, having worked on projects in the United States, the European Union and Brazil.

Born in Barcelona and trained in Europe as a product designer at Escola Massana's Art and Design Center, José was the recipient of a Fundación Mutua General and UPC scholarship enabling him to graduate with the first class to be awarded a postgraduate degree of human factors engineering in Spain. He was also the winner of a HONEYWELL EUROPE's "Futurist Award" in 1993 as featured by CNN International's Future Watch, and the recipient of two EPSON "Information Technologies Journalism Awards" in Spain.

Passionate about design thinking, user centric innovations and new product development, early in his career José pioneered LAI's first course on Human Factors in Product Design and wrote "Roadblocks Impacting Ergonomics in Design," a paper published by INSHT, the Spanish Health & Safety Institute.

His strong interest in management and international business drove him to the DBS program at Ireland's UCD, earning a postgraduate degree in business studies with a scholarship from a European Union agency. José went on to pursue an MBA in International Marketing & Finance from Chicago's DePaul University, sponsored by Honeywell Europe. He has since benefited from executive training on: global marketing at Wharton, partnerships and alliances at Northwestern University, technology and business integration at University of Chicago, most recently innovation management at Harvard Business School and, last but not least, entrepreneurship at Alcatel-Lucent's Boot Camp, a company program managed by Columbia University faculty.
